Hello everybody! It`s almost that time of year again! The 2012 Winter Classics are just around the corner and the Six County Committee has been in preparation for several months getting things all set for the upcoming season. This season is shaping up to be the best ever, however we will be facing some new challenges. We are confident that by working together we will not only meet the challenges before us, but set a precedent for others to follow.
We have been faced with the issue of hiring a DQP (Distinguished Qualified Person) for our shows. The extra cost of hiring a DQP for our shows puts the cost out of reach for some of our counties to host a Winter Classic show. So the show management has decided to shoulder the responsibility of the DQP. What this means is if any gaited horse is showing sored the show management of the county putting on the show will be held responsible along with the owner and the exhibitor of the horse. This is a brave step for our Committee members and it speaks to the faith they have in our kids and their families.
We have appointed a group of three men who all have knowledge of gaited horses and the methods used to sore them. These men will serve as the Winter Classic Inspection Team. They will inspect gaited horses before and after their classes. Any horse found sore will be brought before the Six County Committee and a decision will be made immediately on the infraction. Any violation of our soring rules will be dealt with swiftly and severely. Please watch the web site over the next few months for the new rules effecting the Gaited classes. Also look under pre-registration for a new form that must be filled out for all gaited entries.
We are looking forward to a great 2012 Winter Classic show season!
